Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account to use Talkify?
No — you can browse rooms and use every self-practice tool (flashcards, phrase library, shadowing) without signing in. You only need to log in with Google when you want to create a room or join one.
Why do I need the room host to approve me?
Each voice room is run by whoever created it. To keep rooms safe and spam-free, the host reviews and approves everyone who wants to join — the same way you'd let someone into a call.
What happens if the host leaves the room?
The room closes for everyone. This keeps ownerless, unmoderated rooms from lingering. Anyone can start a new one instantly.
Is my voice recorded or stored?
No. Voice calls use WebRTC peer-to-peer connections directly between participants' browsers. Our server only helps set up the connection (signaling) — it never receives or stores your audio.
What data does Talkify collect when I log in with Google?
Just your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account, used to identify you in rooms. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Which languages are supported?
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, and Hindi.
Can I be removed from a room?
Yes — the room host can remove any participant at any time if needed.
